Dr. Chirag Patel is excited for the opportunity to serve you! Originally from London, England, Dr. Patel moved to the United States in 1998 with his family. He attended Texas Tech University and the University of Texas Permian Basin for his pre-doctorate studies in Psychology, Business Administration, and Pre-Medical Sciences, where he graduated with honors and distinction of Summa Cum Laude. During this time, Dr. Patel spent thousands of hours volunteering and shadowing with several hospitals and physicians, where he continued to develop his passion for helping people through the medical arts.
Dr. Patel went on to complete his Podiatric medical education in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania at Temple University, where he was the recipient of a merit-based scholarship. Following graduation, Dr. Patel went on to pursue clinical training in Manhattan, New York where he trained under a leading physician for Laser Medicine and Surgery of the Foot and Ankle; followed by surgical training in Foot and Ankle Medicine and Surgery in Atlanta, Georgia and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. During this time he did several rotations in various medical specialties including anesthesiology, infectious disease, internal medicine, radiology, orthopedic surgery, general surgery, vascular surgery, wound care, pathology and more.
After leaving Philadelphia, Dr. Patel moved to Louisville, Kentucky where he provided his Podiatric services to over 4000 Kentuckians in a span of one year as a Podiatrist, with many of these patients belonging to the geriatric population. During this time, Dr. Patel developed a deeper connection in providing quality and comprehensive care for the often-forgotten geriatric patient population – ensuring that his patients had all of their questions and concerns addressed while receiving a high level of care with compassion.
In his words, “It was an opportunity for me to embody my practice philosophy in bridging the gap between patient and physician, by taking the time to listen, understand, and provide solutions to my patients. The elderly patient population is often accustomed to being overlooked in the healthcare setting when they complain about pain – often having their symptoms attributed to aging – this was an opportunity for me to alter that perception and truly listen, understand, and provide the care that they deserve.” This level of care and compassion continues to result in several praises and recommendations for Dr. Patel from his colleagues across various medical specialties, as well as his patients, all of whom hold him in high regards for his constant commitment to exceptional care.
Dr. Patel is a highly regarded sports medicine specialist, known for his expertise in treating lower extremity injuries, particularly among athletes. His patient roster includes a diverse range from pee-wee league players and high school athletes to collegiate stars and professional sports figures across the NFL, NBA, MLB, and other leagues. Utilizing a blend of conservative, surgical, and advanced medical technologies, Dr. Patel stands out for his ability to get patients back to their sport as quickly as possible.
What sets Dr. Patel apart is his commitment to personalized care. He understands that each athlete’s injury and recovery needs are unique, regardless of whether they’re a professional or a hobbyist. His treatment approach is comprehensive, customized to the individual’s condition and level of sport, ensuring that every patient receives the most effective treatment to facilitate a swift and safe return to their athletic activities. By combining traditional methods with the latest innovations in medical technology, Dr. Patel ensures that all athletes, from the youngest to the most seasoned, can get back to their game in the shortest time possible.
Despite his busy schedule, Dr. Patel continues to find the time to volunteer within the community, as well as internationally. Along with five other partners across various medical specialties including Pain Management, Podiatry, Physical Therapy, Chiropractic, and Occupational Therapy; Dr. Patel founded a company in 2021 to provide a solution to the large number of children in the world without basic footwear. The company continues its work in securing various strategic partnerships in order to engineer, develop, and provide a global solution for all children to have this very fundamental human right of basic footwear.
Dr. Patel also actively contributes to the advancement of medicine through lectures, most recently giving a Continuing Medical Education approved lecture at the Annual Geriatric Foot Symposium in Louisville, Kentucky on Peripheral Vascular Disease in the Geriatric Population.
In his free time, Dr. Patel enjoys spending time with his family, trying new cuisines, catching up with friends, and exploring his new city.
Dr. Patel joined New Horizons Foot and Ankle Associates, PLLC in 2021 and eagerly looks forward to the opportunity to continue to serve the residents of Kentucky for all of their Foot and Ankle needs.
